10-17 Learning reflection

This week we had a group project. Our group project consisted of five members and each of us had our own jobs to do that was given to us by our team leader. My part of this project was to research about the advantages and disadvantages of having a client server network. I also had to relate this to my experience on the WWW(World Wide Web). I learned to cooperate and work together with everyone. Our team leader showed us good leadership and made sure that we got everything done on time.

Industry Podcasts and Professional Communities

If I was a web designer, I would try my best to do as many things as possible to stay on top. An example would be is being more creative, do things that other people wont be thinking of.

The two Podcasts that I was listening to were:

http://www.rookiedesigner.com/
                       &
http://boagworld.com/show/

The podcast for these blog sites are very well done. The speakers for both blogs were confident in what they were saying, the content they had was good. I learned that having a blog and making a podcast is fun.

Learning Reflection

During last week i have learned to do many things, one of those things are when Mr. Davis showed me and my friend how to fix and ghost computers. How can I use what I learned in life? Well the simple answer would be that in the future if my computer broke down and needed some repair, i would be able to fix it without having to pay anybody. At first I had difficulty with learning all the different components in the computer and learning what there role was. The way I always over come my obstacles is by not giving up and just keep trying until i succeed.

What I know about Web Design

I don't really know much about web design or it developments. During my sophomore year in high school, my computer class was told to create our own wiki space website.

I want to learn how to get better at making websites. This might benefit me in life because if I decided to open up a new business and wanted my name out there, I would advertise my business through my website.

Netiquette

Netiquette: the correct or acceptable way of communicating on the Internet.

The importance of having a good netiquette is very important because you must be responsible for what you say or do on the internet. You have to be mature, reasonable, and trustworthy. An area where I would show good netiquette is on YouTube. many people post videos that takes them a lot of time to make, so I have to show good manners when I comment on their videos. My netiquette is decent, i don't go around saying bad things to people on the internet.

Positive Digital Footprint

Digital Footprint: is the data trail left by the interactions in a digital environment; including the use of TVmobile phone, the World Wide Web, the internet and other connected devices and sensors.

The importance of having a positive digital footprint is that you must thing before you post something that might affect you positively or negatively. Like many job employers use search engine's like Google to look for potential employees. The things they look for is an indication of the applicants personality. To see if anyone is saying anything negative about you. So basically having a positive digital footprint is good because you want to showcase yourself in the best way possible.

My digital footprint is not so good because i usually never show up on Google.  The way i can improve my digital footprint is by being more active online. It does matter to me who I'm associated with online because you never know what kind of person your associated with. Like their background, their history or if they have any criminal records.

Academic integrity

Academic Integrity: Academic integrity is the moral code or ethical policy of academia. This includes values such as avoidance of cheating or plagiarism; maintenance of academic standards; honesty and rigour in research and academic publishing.

Plagiarism: the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.

Academic Integrity is important because you or anyone else has to be honest with their work, has to have a good set of moral code and must avoid cheating. Plagiarism is important because you cant take credit for someones work. if you're going to use someones work, at least give them the credit they deserve for their work.
